Well after much waiting we finally have an E85 pump in our town, at a bp station. I have been filling my flex fuel Silverado with it for the past couple weeks before starting to fuel any of the companys vehicles on it. So far, there's no power loss at all. Aceleration is just as good as before if not better, but I've definitely lost some range, so I'm taking a small hit on mpg for sure. I'm about ready to start sending my drivers to the E85 pump but I want to see if anyone else has any real world experience they could share before I make the call. We have six '07 Dakotas and four '05 F-150s

As I understand it, GM is now offering E85-capable police Impalas and Tahoes. Of course, who knows how many law enforcement agancies will buy them, but just the fact that Chevy is making them seems a good sign to me that the horsepower and fuel economy issues aren't causing anyone any huge headaches.

I have a 01 S-10 and use E-85 when I can get it. I have no problems with power or performance but I do loose on MPG. The last time I checked it, I lost about 5 mpg, but I saved $3.50 on the tank of fuel because of the cost difference. I just filled Friday and am waiting to check this tank full out to see if there is any savings. It did cost $12.00 less to fill with E-85 than it would have cost with regular ethanol. I wish it were easier to get in my area. |
